Holiday happenings

Ongoing; Starfest, Eagle Crest Resort's annual holiday light display runs through Jan. 2, 2008, 5:30-9:30 p.m. daily. In addition to the mile-long display of lights the event features the Teddy Bear Suite gift shop, carolers, hot cocoa and coffee, cookie decorating, weekend wagon rides, and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides are offered at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. through Dec. 22.

Thursday, Nov. 29
First- and second-graders at John Tuck Elementary will present their music program, "Carnival of the Animals," 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the school, Northwest 10th Street and Birch Avenue.

Friday, Nov. 30
Shop for holiday crafts and partake of food for sale at Redmond's Holiday Village Market 3-6 p.m. at the downtown plaza.

Cascades Theatrical Company presents "The Christmas Express," a comedy about an old radio coming to life and getting into the Christmas Spirit, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Dec. 5-8, Dec. 12-15; and 2 p.m. Dec. 2, 9 and 16, at the theater, 148 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend. "Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge," opens at the 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave., Bend. Christopher Durang's version of "A Christmas Carol" contains some adult humor. Performances are at 8 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Dec. 4-8, 12-15 and 19-22; and 3 p.m. Dec. 2, 9 and 16. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for students and seniors. 312-9626.

Saturday, Dec. 1
"Coming Home for Christmas" is the theme for the 24th annual Festival of Trees presented by Hospice of Redmond-Sisters and Fred Meyer, More than 40 individually-decorated Christmas trees, holiday wreaths and entertainment. Free admission, family activities from 10-3 p.m. at Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center. The gala buyers' auction begins at 5:30 p.m. with champagne and hors d'oeuvres social hour. The Crooked River Ranch - Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce invites families to participate in the Ole Timey Family Christmas Parade Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. Dress up the whole family (including pets) and walk, ride, drive, push, pull, dance, march or sing your way down the parade route. Refreshments and Santa Claus will be at the end of the parade along with the Lighting of the Christmas Tree. For your place in the parade contact Cathy Nemitz at 923-1462

Get your photo taken with Santa and a live reindeer, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Operation Santa Claus, corner of Southwest Helmholtz Way and West Highway 126. Cost is $10. Proceeds benefit the Redmond Reign, a 16-and-under fastpitch softball team.

Central Oregon Community College's Cascade Chorale will present Holiday Magic at the Tower Theatre at 3 p.m. Dec. 7-9. Reserved tickets are $22 and $18 and are available at the Tower Theatre box office or www.towerthreatre.org. This is a fundraising event for Central Oregon Resources for Independent Living.

Saturday, Dec. 8
Zion Lutheran Church's holiday bazaar, will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 1113 SW Black Butte Blvd. Featured items include baked goods, gifts, ethnic food items, a quilt raffle and more. Information: 548-7178 or 923-2318.

Fifth annual Teddy Bear Tea, seatings at 10 a.m. and noon at Juniper Golf Club, 1938 SW Elkhorn Ave. Children can enjoy holiday goodies and visit with Santa. Each child receives a teddy bear to take home. The tea is a benefit for Camp Sunrise, a grief camp for children. Tuesday, Dec. 11
Elton Gregory Middle School band students will present their winter concert, 7-9 p.m. in the Redmond High School Auditorium, 675 SW Rimrock Way.

Thursday, Dec. 13
Teens, ages 12 to 17, are invited to make gifts for family and friends then decorate gift bags, 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Redmond Public Library, 827 SW Deschutes Ave. Information: 312-1063.

Terrebonne Community School third-graders will present their holiday program 6:30-7:30 at the school, 1199 B. Ave., Terrebonne.

The Redmond High School Drama Department presents its winter play, "Tuna Christmas," 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 675 SW Rimrock Way. Additional performances are Dec. 14, 15 and 16.

Remember a loved one by lighting a candle and placing a bow in their memory on the memorial tree at 2:30 p.m. at Hospice of Redmond-Sisters, 732 SW 23rd St. Light UP a Life includes music and refreshments.

Sunday, Dec. 16
The Cabaret Connection presents Wonder & Joy, Celebrating Christmas in Music featuring the Bells of Sunriver, at 6 p.m. at the Redmond Community Church auditorium, 237 NW Ninth St. Tickets are $15 in advance; $18 day of show. Information: 923-2025.

Tuesday, Dec. 18
The Tom McCall Elementary third graders present "Christmas at the OK Corral," at X p.m. at the school, 1200 NW Upas Ave.

Obsidian Middle School will present its holiday concert 7-8:30 p.m. at Redmond High School, 675 SW Rimrock Way.

Wednesday, Dec. 19
Redmond High School's winter choir concert will be 7-9 p.m. at the school, 675 SW Rimrock Way.
