High Desert Museum features Art of the West
The Art of the West Show, featuring paintings and sculpture from Western artists, is on exhibit at the High Desert Museum through Aug. 21. The art will be auctioned at the 21st annual High Desert Rendezvous, the museum’s signature fundraising gala, on Aug. 21 at 5 p.m.
The event features a hosted bar, Wild West cowboy supper, dancing to live music by Courtney Lynn and Big Trouble, and a live and silent auction to benefit the museum’s educational programs. Food preservation hot line is open
The Oregon State University food preservation hot line is open for questions and will continue until at least Sept. 2.
Call 1-800-354-7319 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday for answers to questions about safely canning and preserving food.
Information on canning, freezing, pickling and drying fruits and vegetables is also available online at http://extension.oregonstate.edu/fch/food-preservation . You’ll also find recipes for making jams and jellies and smoking and curing meat and fish.

Farmers market vendors sought
Redmond Greenhouse is seeking local growers/crafters for its Wednesday and Saturday markets at its Highway 97 location. Spaces are 12-by-12 and the $15 fee will be waived until the market is up and running. Sellers of food-related products must have current Oregon Food Handlers Permit.
