James Loyd Johnson
March 30, 1940 - July 23, 2011
James Loyd Johnson, who worked for the city of Redmond for 20 years, died July 23, in Redmond. He was 71 years old.
Mr. Johnson was born March 30, 1940, in Moose Lake, Minn., the son of Phillip and Mildred Johnson. He married Gracie Louise Turner on Sept. 19, 1958. The Johnsons were together for almost 53 years, raising four children.
The Johnsons moved to Redmond in the spring of 1972. Mr. Johnson worked in the city's public works department, fulfilling a wide range of duties, including operating the city's street sweeper. He retired in 1998. The Johnsons later moved to Crooked River Ranch, where he worked in maintenance, before returning to Redmond this year.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was a skilled woodworker. He was beloved for his warmth and humor, and known to his friends and family for his work ethic and his willingness to help others in their time of need.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie Louise of Redmond, daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Keith Wells of Bend, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Pritchett of Crescent City, Calif.; son and daughter- in-law, Frank and Kristine Johnson of Redmond; son and daughter-in-law, David and Mirian Johnson of Wildomar, Calif.; brother, Kenneth R. Johnson of Bend; sister, Karyl Morris of Arkansas; ten grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Services were held Friday, July 29, 2011, at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.

Kyle Aaron Simpson
Dec. 31, 1989 - July 23, 2011
Kyle Aaron Simpson, died July 23, 2011, in Fort Worth, Texas, as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident on July 15. His parents were with him at his time of passing.
Kyle was born Dec. 31, 1989, to Leanne and Trevor Simpson in Misawa, Japan. He spent most of his life in Redmond, Oregon, where he graduated from high school in 2008. After graduation, Kyle attended school in Lakewood, Colorado, graduating from the Colorado School of Trades in 2010, with a degree in gunsmithing. From there he moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for employment in his new career.
Kyle loved to ride motorcycles, especially with the extended group of the Outlaw Ryderz in Fort Worth.
Kyle is survived by his mother, Leanne Simpson; brothers, Brent and Chad, of Terrebonne; and his father, Trevor Simpson; stepmother, Teresa Simpson; and stepbrother and stepsister, Nathan and Bri Pickering; grandparents, Corrina and Vonrae Simpson; all of Redmond. He is also survived by an uncle and aunts, Dave and Julie Hunt, Kathy Butts; cousins, Megan Hunt, Lindsay Hunt, Brandi Hunt, Sarah Doyle, Steve Butts and Cheryl Hargan; and by numerous second and third cousins. Kyle is also survived by a large family of friends in the Fort Worth area.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mel and Janet Peterson; and stepbrother, Nick Pickering.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m., on the lawn at the Powell Butte Christian Church in Powell Butte. Please bring your lawn chair and dress casually, “Kyle style”. There will be a meal following for a time of fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in Kyle's memory.
Holly Kristina Davis
September 3, 1975 - July 22, 2011
Holly Kristina Davis was born September 3, 1975, in Portland, Oregon, and passed away unexpectedly July 22, 2011, in Redmond, Oregon. She is survived by her father, Steve Davis of Sandy, Oregon; her mother, Kris (David) Scharfenberg of Gresham, Oregon; a brother, Phil of Estacada, Oregon, and grandmother, Rosalie Davis of Gresham, Oregon. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Holly is also survived by Jonathan and Christopher Perry whom she loved dearly and that were an important part of her life.
At an early age, Holly chose to serve the Lord and kept true to that vow throughout her life. Holly graduated from Sandy High School in 1993. Following high school, she worked at Joyful Noise Daycare and Willamette Industries in Portland. Holly had a great love of children and they were always an important part of her life.
After moving to Redmond, Oregon in 2005, she began substituting at Terrebonne, Tom McCall and Tumalo Elementaries. She was employed at Tumalo Elementary at the time of her death.
She was also involved in home schooling organizations and Cub Scouts.
Holly had many hobbies and interests. She was an avid scrapbooker, cardmaker and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Holly loved spending time with her many friends.
Some people give of themselves and never know the depth of what they have given. Holly will be remembered for her smile, humor and caring spirit.
Contributions may be made to the Holly Davis Memorial Fund at any US Bank for a memorial to be placed at Tumalo Community School.
