COCC Redmond bookkeeping classes
Central Oregon Community College’s Continuing Education department will offer beginning classes in Excel and QuickBooks Pro in March.
Excel 2010, Beginning will be held Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Redmond campus. Cost is $59.
Create, edit, format and save a spreadsheet. Write formulas and create charts  and databases. Prerequisite: basic Windows experience. Bring a flash drive to class to save your work.
QuickBooks Pro, Beginning will be taught Thursdays, March 8 and 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Redmond campus. Cost is $59.

Excel spreadsheet classes at library
Excel classes will be taught at the Redmond Library in March.
Know Excel for Beginners will be held Tuesday, March 6, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Learn how to enter, edit and format text in Microsoft Excel as well as save and print a worksheet. Prerequisites: “Know Computers for Beginners” or familiarity with Windows.
Know Excel Budgets will be offered Friday, March 9, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Learn how to enter and format data, and create basic formulas while creating a monthly household budget. Prerequisites: “Know Excel for Beginners” or familiarity with Microsoft Windows.

Make the most of your meals
On Tuesday, Feb. 28 local cooking instructor Ahja King will demonstrate how to stretch the budget and make three different meals out of one chicken. “One Chicken, Three Meals” takes place at the Redmond Library at 6 p.m. The class is free and open to the public, but limited to 20 participants. Models needed for life drawing class
Life art classes, sponsored by High Desert Society of the Arts and Redmond Proficiency Academy, will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of the month, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Feb. 27 through May 28.

Crooked River Roundup coronation
The Crooked River Roundup Queen Coronation and Auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, in Carey Foster Hall at the Crook County Fairgrounds in Prineville. The 2012 Queen is Jordan Payne of Redmond. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; dinner is at 6. Silent and live auctions, cash bar, dinner, coronation ceremonies and dancing are all part of the evening.

All-ages short film contest
The Central Oregon Film Festival 2012, planned for Madras and Redmond, is a “Shorts” film festival, one- to 15-minute film contest open to all residents of Central Oregon.
Three age categories, 10-14, 15-18 and adult, can participate. The deadline for entries is March 31 . Drop boxes for entries are at the Redmond Library, Madras Library and Crook County Library.
An awards and prizes night and showing of winning entries is scheduled for April 28 in Madras, at 6 p.m. at the Jefferson County Library Annex, with an additional showing of winning entries at the Redmond Library, May 5 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Horse-drawn Auction & Swap
The Horse-drawn Auction & Swap returns to Madras on April 18-21.
Horse-drawn wagons, harnesses, sleigh bells, big draft horses and fancy carriage horses, restored antique farm implements, and thousands of country antiques will be for sale either privately or at auction at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.  Admission is free; $5 parking fee. Concessions are available.
