Gerald (Jerry) Michael Meyers
February 27, 1943 - May 5, 2012
Gerald Michael Meyers (Jerry) passed away peacefully with his family and friends around him on May 5, 2012, at Partners In Care Hospice House in Bend.  He courageously fought esophageal cancer for 6 months.
He was born in Redmond, Oregon, on February 27, 1943, and grew up in Sisters, Oregon.
He was a tanker truck driver until he retired and then went back to work for Rock Arbor Villa Mobile Home Park.
Jerry was a man of faith. He had deep religious convictions and he loved Jesus Christ with all his heart and soul.  His family and friends all knew that he was at peace with his Lord and Savior. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and attended Desert Springs Christian Church in Bend, Oregon.  He also helped many people heal from addictions and helped them to trust God with their lives.
Jerry loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hiking and hunting in the Central Oregon Cascades.
He was a very well read man and loved words.  This gave him the ability to express his love for poetry and his personal history of living and growing up in the small town of Sisters, in the 50s and 60s with a population of 704.  Jerry loved to tell tales of this time.  He put many of them into stories he would then masterfully share over the holiday table, often filling us with tears of laughter.
Jerry, a crazy loving husband and father, is survived by his wonderful wife, Mary Ann Meyers (married October 12, 2003 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Sisters, Oregon); immediate family, daughter, Michelle Kuhnau; brothers, Thom Meyers, Jim Meyers, Ron Meyers, Ted Meyers; and sister, Loma Jane Smith-Weber; along with extended family members.  He was preceded in death by his father, George Walter Meyers (May 5, 1917- June 25, 2002); and his loving mother, Barbara Jeanne Meyers (April 2, 1921-June 25, 2006).
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 19, at , at Deschutes Memorial Gardens.  Direction are on the site Deschutes Memorial Chapel, 63875 N Highway 97, Bend, Oregon 97701 (541-382-5592).  Immediately following the graveside service will be a memorial at Rock Arbor Villa Park Rec Hall, 2200 NE Highway 20, Bend, Oregon.
Anyone who knew and loved Jerry is invited to come celebrate his life with us at the graveside service and following memorial. Please sign our guest book at
