Duane Oren Shuey

“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.” -- Psalm 17:15
Duane Shuey went to be with his Lord on February 12, 2015. He passed away peacefully at home with both of his daughters by his side. Because of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can rejoice, knowing that he is in the presence of the Lord, and “we don’t grieve as those who have no hope,” as the scriptures say.
He is also survived by a brother and two sisters. His remains will be returned to Polson, Montana, the birthplace that he loved. The family is also planning a full military service, to be held at a future date.

Kathryn Vester (Stufflebeem)

Kathryn Vester of Redmond passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Partners in Care Hospice House on Feb. 7, 2015. Kathryn was 59.
Kathryn was born in Palaski Co., Missouri on Dec.17, 1955 to Donald and Barbara Stufflebeem.
In 1973, she married Douglas Vester and together they had two children. She was married to Doug until his passing in 1988.
Kathryn worked as a veterinary technician for many years before taking a position with St. Charles Family Care in Redmond. Kathryn was always described as kind, caring, and beautiful inside as well as out. Her clever wit and sense of humor carried through until the very end.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Danielle Hadley (spouse Tim Hadley); her son, Tim Vester; a sister, Erin Clegg; and two beloved grandchildren, Brody and Taylyn.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Stufflebeem and sister, Tamra Stufflebeem.
There will be no formal ceremony. Instead, a small graveside placement will be held on Wednesday February 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, who is also in charge of the arrangements.

Ridgeview girls continued to play tough defense in a loss to Bend last week. The Ridgview girls travel to Mountain View Friday. Sports continued at a torrid pace in Redmond with 14 wrestlers from Redmond High Schools qualifying for the state wrestling tournament and Redmond basketball teams contending for playoff berths. See sports, page 3, in the Feb. 18 Spokesman.

The owners of Dynacore Fitness are taking their gym to the next level. JoAnn Lowe
Aug. 27, 1928 - Jan. 18, 2015
JoAnn Lowe, age 86, passed away January 18, at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on  February 23, at the Community Presbyterian Church, 529 NW 19th Street, Redmond, Oregon 97756.  Pastor Rob Anderson will be officiating.
JoAnn was born to Ross Elmer and Margaret Mae McConnell Snyder in Nampa, Idaho, August 27, 1928.  She attended Nampa (Idaho) High School and St. Luke's Nursing School, graduating in 1949. She married Merle Lowe June 3, 1972, in Redmond, Oregon.  She worked as an RN in Redmond and Prineville Hospitals and then in Home Health in Redmond, Oregon, retiring in 1980.
JoAnn was a member of the College Place Presbyterian Church and had a very strong Christian faith, living for her Lord.  As a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, she loved spending time with her family.  She had a passion for gardening, singing in the Park Plaza Choir, traveling, painting and baking.  She was a devoted caregiver and offered a helping hand to many.
JoAnn is survived by her four daughters, Angelene (Martin) Bales, Cynthia (Gary) Key, Letha Carter (John Domingo) and Becky (Kevin) Chandler; stepson, James Lowe; sister, Ellen (Frank) Dines; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren; three nieces and a nephew.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; stepson, Brian Lowe; parents; sister, Lois Wise; infant brother, Loren; and daughter, Linda Fischer.

In late spring Redmond will be home to the largest accessible playground in Oregon thanks to Gary Ollerenshaw who spearheaded a drive to raise nearly $600,000 for the playground at Sam Johnson Park. Read more in the Feb. 4 Spokesman.
