Duane Oren Shuey Feb. 24, 1933 - Feb. 12, 2015

Duane Shuey went to be with his Lord on February 12, 2015. He passed away peacefully at home with both of his daughters by his side. Because of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can rejoice, knowing that he is in the presence of the Lord, and “we don’t grieve as those who have no hope,” as the scriptures say.
He is also survived by a brother and two sisters. His remains will be returned to Polson, Montana, the birthplace that he loved. The family is also planning a full military service, to be held at a future date.
Services: A Celebration of Life will be held in Portland on Feb. 21, from3 to 5 p.m., at Canton Grill, located at 2610 SE 82nd Avenue. Another Celebration of Life will be held in Culver onFeb. 28. Please contact the family for more details.

Kathryn Vester (Stufflebeem) Dec. 17, 1955 - Feb. 7, 2015 Kathryn Vester of Redmond passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Partners in Care Hospice House on Feb. 7, 2015. Kathryn was 59. Kathryn was born in Palaski Co., Missouri on Dec.17, 1955 to Donald and Barbara Stufflebeem. In 1973, she married Douglas Vester and together they had two children. She was married to Doug until his passing in 1988. Kathryn worked as a veterinary technician for many years before taking a position with St. Charles Family Care in Redmond. Kathryn was always described as kind, caring, and beautiful inside as well as out. Her clever wit and sense of humor carried through until the very end. Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Danielle Hadley (spouse Tim Hadley); her son, Tim Vester; a sister, Erin Clegg; and two beloved grandchildren, Brody and Taylyn. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Stufflebeem and sister, Tamra Stufflebeem. There will be no formal ceremony. Instead, a small graveside placement will be held on Wednesday February 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, who is also in charge of the arrangements.

Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming in Sports
Ridgeview girls continued to play tough defense in a loss to Bend last week. The Ridgview girls travel to Mountain View Friday. Sports continued at a torrid pace in Redmond with 14 wrestlers from Redmond High Schools qualifying for the state wrestling tournament and Redmond basketball teams contending for playoff berths. As a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, she loved spending time with her family. She had a passion for gardening, singing in the Park Plaza Choir, traveling, painting and baking. She was a devoted caregiver and offered a helping hand to many. JoAnn is survived by her four daughters, Angelene (Martin) Bales, Cynthia (Gary) Key, Letha Carter (John Domingo) and Becky (Kevin) Chandler; stepson, James Lowe; sister, Ellen (Frank) Dines; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren; three nieces and a nephew.
