June expected to be warmer than normal in Redmond

From the National Weather Service:

       According to preliminary data received by NOAA's National Weather Service in Pendleton Oregon, temperatures at Redmond airport averaged warmer than normal during the month of May.

       The average temperature was 54.6 degrees which was 3.2 degrees above normal. High Temperatures averaged 70.0 degrees, which was 2.5 degrees above normal. The highest was 83 degrees on the 31st. Low temperatures averaged 39.3 degrees, which was 3.9 degrees above normal. The lowest was 30 degrees, on the 11th.

       There were 2 days with the low temperature below 32 degrees.

       Precipitation totaled 1.98 inches during May, which was 0.96 inches above normal. Measurable precipitation -at least .01 inch- was received on 7 days with the heaviest, 0.78 inches reported on the 21th.

       Precipitation this year has reached 4.18 inches, which is 0.15 inches above normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at Redmond airport has been 7.75 inches, which is 0.95 inches above normal.

       The highest wind gust was 36 mph which occurred on the 4th.

       The outlook for June from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation. Normal highs for Redmond airport rise from 72.0 degrees at the start of June to 81.0 degrees at the end of June. Normal lows rise from 39.0 degrees to 44.0 degrees. The 30 year normal precipitation is 0.64 inches.
