Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Single Vehicle Crash
Suspect Arrested, Lodged at Deschutes County Jail
On August 26 at around 8:07 p.m. Redmond Officers observed a grey colored older BMW driving in a reckless manner in the area of Highway 97 and SW Veterans Way and allegedly ran a red light. When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle for the observed driving the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle traveled on SW Veterans Way then the wrong way on SW 11th Street from SW Veterans Way to SW Glacier where the vehicle traveled west bound on SW Glacier Avenue. Glacier Avenue turns into SW Highland Avenue near SW 15th Street.
The vehicle continued to attempt to evade police as it drove west bound on SW Highland Avenue near Canyon Drive where the vehicle was unable to negotiate the corner while trying to turn onto SW Canyon Drive. The vehicle struck the curb and a planter at Coldwell Banker Realty parking lot. The driver and his passenger were not hurt in the crash and the driver was taken into custody without further incident. No other persons or vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver was identified as Kristian Cooper, 23 years of age from Redmond. He was later lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on several charges to include Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another and Felony Attempt to Elude. The passenger was released at the scene with no charges.
