Police: Man charged with attempted sex abuse involving minor in Redmond

Arrested:                                Smith, Matthew Taylor 35 YOA WM

Victim:                                                15 Year Old Juvenile

Charges:                                  Luring a minor, Att. Sex Abuse II, Contributing to the sexual
                                                Delinquency of a Minor.

On 10-06-2016, at approximately 1857 hrs., officers of the Redmond Police Department were made aware of a potential luring case via text messaging, involving an adult male Matthew Smith, and a 15 year old juvenile victim. During the course of the investigation officers and detectives posing as the juvenile victim were able to develop information through the exchange of text messages that Matthew Smith was attempting to exchange nude photographs with the victim, as well set up a meet for the purposes of sexual contact. Detectives were able to set up a meet with Matthew Smith at Sawyer Park in Bend, Or., while still posing as the victim. Matthew Smith agreed to and drove to the park to meet with the victim. Upon his arrival at Sawyer Park he exited his vehicle and walked to the agreed upon location to meet the victim. Matthew Smith was taken into custody without incident, and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail for the listed charges. No further information well be released by the Redmond Police Department concerning this incident as the victim is a juvenile.
