Redmond Seeks Housing Proposals for Former City Hall Site - A Progressive Next Step for Downtown Redmond’s Revitalization Efforts -

On June 5, 2017 the City of Redmond Urban Renewal Agency issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a higher-end, condominium style, mixed-use housing development on the former City Hall site at 716 NW Evergreen Ave. The City owned site, located in the heart of downtown Redmond, is comprised of four parcels and encompasses approximately 1.41 acres. This site was vacated by the City in March 2017 and is now available for redevelopment. The RFP is available for viewing and/or direct download at www.redmondurbanrenewal.com.

“Redmond is ready for modern and creative housing options in our Downtown core. This is the next step in our continued revitalization efforts of the district,” states Urban Renewal Agency Program Manager, Chuck Arnold. “Transforming the former City Hall site into a walkable urban living and retail space addresses both the community’s growing demand for quality housing while stimulating the economy.”

For the past decade, the Urban Renewal Agency has been strategically investing in key revitalization efforts to Redmond’s downtown district, removing barriers for development. The Downtown Urban Renewal Area Plan (2011) and the 2013 City Center Housing Study created a blueprint for public-private redevelopment projects in downtown.
A successful proposal will enhance the character of the Downtown through good design, provide a greater range of housing options, and enhance the economic viability of the area. Prospective developer(s) are encouraged to attend a pre-submittal informational meeting and site tour to be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017. The meeting will be hosted at Redmond City Hall Community Development Department, located at 411 S.W. 9th Street, starting at 9:00 a.m. All interested developers should RSVP no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 16, 2017 by emailing Chuck Arnold at chuck.arnold@ci.redmond.or.us. The closing date for submitting proposals for consideration is July 27, 2017.
