Man seriously injured in car crash near Smith Rock: A man suffered serious injuries in a May 4 collision east of Smith Rock State Park, according to a Crook County Sheriff’s Office news release. Richard Moller Jr. was driving a 1997 Ford F-350 pickup east on NW Smith Rock Way at the intersection with NW Lambert Road when, for unknown reasons, the pickup left the road and rolled, landing on its wheels, officials said. Deputies found the roof of the pickup collapsed with Moller unconscious and trapped inside, officials said. Redmond Fire and Rescue workers used the jaws of life to remove Moller from the pickup before he was flown to a hospital, officials said. Moller was wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, officials said. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call 541-447-6398 and reference case 18-0510.
