Oregon license plate mural

A new mural will be unveiled at the Redmond Airport on Friday . The art piece is a full-scale version of Oregon’s new Cultural Trust 20th anniversary license plate known as “Celebrate Oregon!”

The artwork for the license plate and mural, created by Liza Burns, of Eugene, includes colorful Oregon geography with 127 symbols representing different aspects of Oregon’s collective arts, heritage, history and cultural practices. Other murals will also be installed at the Eugene, Medford and Portland airports through a partnership with GreenCars.com.

“The new design, built on a panorama of Oregon geography, reflects and respects the diversity of our culture at a time we need it most,” said Niki Price, cultural trust board chair. “Cultural expression is how our communities define themselves — how they live their everyday lives, their traditions, their heritage, their creativity, their celebrations, their values and how they connect with one another. Our culture is the glue that can bind us together as Oregonians.”
