One of the latest additions to Redmond’s beer scene is Level State Beerhouse on SW Evergreen Avenue.

Owner Cory Hinzman opened the bar three months ago after living in Redmond for three years.

“It was just something I always thought of wanting to do, but it didn’t take until moving over here,” Hinzman said.

The bar features a modern-industrial atmosphere, with high tables, pinball machines and pool tables. A mural incorporating characters from “Where the Wild Things Are” covers a large wall at the back of the bar. Artwork for sale by local artists decorate the hallway and bathroom walls.

“Everytime someone comes in they’re like ‘man this is awesome, It feels like Portland or it feels like San Francisco.’ It gives it a little bit of a different vibe,” Hinzman said.

Level State offers selections of beer on tap as well as bottles or cans of beer to go. There is a small selection of appetizers and Hinzman says he is working on getting a food truck. The beers on tap come from local breweries, including selections from Prineville, Redmond and Bend.

“We have a rotating tap. They’re never the same,” Hinzman said.

He explains that he usually keeps a selection of dark and light beer as well as cider and India pale ales.

Hinzman said that he is working on offering beers infused with cannabidiol, or CBD, a compound found in cannabis.

In addition to merchandise that includes stickers and T-shirts, Hinzman said he hopes to sell growlers. He is also working on installing a green space for customers to enjoy during the summer.

Hinzman said he maintains a good relationship with other beer businesses in town and looks forward to the future of Level State.

“We’re going to keep on adding and moving forward,” he said.
