Ridgeview will play Tuesday in the state softball semifinals for the first time as a Class 5A team.

The No. 1-seed Ravens (22-2) defeated No. 8 Central 3-2 in the quarterfinals May 24 on Sage McVay’s third hit of the game, which drove home Ally Henry in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ridgeview pitcher Allicitie Frost held the Panthers scoreless through six innings, before Central tied the game in the top of the seventh on a two-run single by Peyton Foreman.

Ridgeview lost in the quarterfinals the last two seasons, reaching the semifinals as a Class 4A team in 2014.

The Ravens are scheduled to play host to No. 4 West Albany at 4:30 p.m. May 28. West Albany advanced with a 9-3 May 24 victory against Pendleton, which finished third behind Ridgeview and Hood River Valley in the Intermountain Conference. The winner advances to play the winner between Dallas and Hillsboro June 1 for the state title at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene.

Frost previously reached the state finals as a member of Ridgeview’s volleyball team.
