Hunger Prevention Coalition Seeks Board Members: The Hunger Prevention Coalition of Central Oregon is planning to expand its board of directors, according to a news release. The organization supports local meal sites, food pantries and delivery systems with money to buy staples like dairy, fresh fruit, vegetables and protein. Support comes from their “Help Fill Empty Plates” program located in shops and stores throughout Central Oregon. According to Robin Popp, president of the organization, “bolstering meal sites and food pantries with items not usually available but essential for good nutrition is a way to help change conditions for the better.” People interested in serving on the board can contact 541-408-1978.


The Giving Tree coming: People wishing to help make Christmas a little brighter for families in need can choose a tag from the Giving Tree, which will be located starting Nov. 16 at Green Plow Coffee Roasters, 436 SW 6th St., and buy a gift for a child or teen. The Giving Tree, set up by Redmond Chamber of Commerce, helps around 150 children and 75 families each year and provides a way for members of the community to give clothing, shoes and other gifts to those less fortunate. “Share the Warmth” coat and blanket drive: Windemere Real Estate is hosting an event for its annual coat and blanket drives from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Juniper Golf Course, 1938 SW Elkhorn Ave. Attendees should RSVP by phone at 541-923-4663 or email and should bring new or gently used adult size coats, twin size blankets or donation gift cards, which will benefit Family Access Network and Jericho Road. The event will have appetizers and a no-host bar, as well as drawings and auction items. Beulah’s Place popcorn fundraiser: Beulah’s Place, a Redmond nonprofit which helps homeless teens, is selling $15 gallon bags of sweet or savory fresh-popped gluten-free gourmet popcorn made by Sweet Oasis as a fundraiser to help buy a new building.
