Major construction on the closed section of South Canal Boulevard is being suspended for the foreseeable future because of winter temperatures, but that doesn’t mean the road will reopen to traffic.
According to a news release from contractor Knife River, pouring of concrete curb and sidewalks and asphalt paving cannot be performed without compromising the integrity and lifespan of the material. Construction will start once warmer temperatures allow.
Though the area will be closed to through traffic, construction crews will maintain the corridor to allow residents to access their property. Knife River will clear snow in the area.
“Thank you for your understanding,” Knife River’s Robert Gibbons wrote.
