A Redmond man faces charges after allegedly slashing another man’s tires, punching him and robbing several items from him, according to a Redmond Police news release.
Rudy Gandarilla, 40, became upset at a man he knew who drove one of Gandarilla’s acquaintances to Gandarilla’s house at the intersection of SW 25th Street and SW Fissure Loop on the evening of Dec. 26, police said. Gandarilla confronted the driver with a knife while the man was in the driver’s seat of his car, police said. Gandarilla allegedly slashed two of the man’s tires, punched him in the face and demanded that he give him personal items, including a cell phone and wallet, while threatening the man with a knife, police said. Gandarilla retreated into his home and cooperated with officers when they arrived, police said. Gandarilla was arrested and taken to Deschutes County jail, facing charges of menacing, first-degree robbery and theft, second-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree assault, police said. He is also pending arraignment on an unlawful use of a weapon charge, according to the jail website.
Police recovered the victim’s phone and wallet, and they knife they believe Gandarilla used, police said. Drug impairment by Gandarilla is suspected as a contributing factor in the incident, police said.
