A Redmond man faces an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge after being arrested Monday following a several-day search, according to a Redmond Police news release.

James Preston Bonner III, 25, was taken into custody around 11 a.m. and taken to the Deschutes County jail, where he is being held on $10,000 bond, police said. He is also accused of a probation violation.

The vehicle was located Jan. 25 at a home in the 1400 block of SW 27th Street, where police conducted surveillance, gathering information regarding several occupants of the home. Redmond Police executed a search warrant at the residence that afternoon, closing down SW 27th Street between SW Metolius and Obsidian avenues.

Based on information regarding the potential of stolen firearms inside the home, the region’s SWAT team assisted in the execution of the search warrant for the stolen vehicle and related evidence inside.

Dustin Gates, 29, was arrested without incident Jan. 25 at the residence and charged with several identity theft and property crimes unrelated to the vehicle theft, police said.

Bonner had been seen walking in the area earlier in the day, but was not found at the home during the search, police said.
