Former RPA principal captured in Kentucky: A former Redmond Proficiency Academy principal was captured Feb. 22, according to a Redmond Police news release. An arrest warrant was issued in October for Michael Tallman, who also goes by Michael Bremont, after failing to appear for a hearing just before a trial on charges for allegedly abusing a third former student, police said. A federal fugitive task force surrounded Tallman’s recreational vehicle in Paducah and arrested Tallman after he allegedly attempted to jump out a window and run, police said. Tallman, a former Redmond High principal who co-founded RPA in 2009, has faced numerous criminal charges including being convicted in 2012 of sexually abusing a former RPA student in 2009 and 2010, according to The Bulletin. A second conviction resulting from information uncovered in that case showed that Tallman also had a sexual relationship with an underage student at Central Linn High School in Halsey, where Tallman was principal, in 2005 and 2006. Tallman faces life in prison if convicted on the current charges.
