Restoring the Elwha Presentation: Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon Area is hosting a presentation by Jerry Freilich, aquatic ecologist who has been involved the science of dam removals such as the hydropower dam on the Elwha River, 2-3:30 p.m. in the Crooked River Ranch Clubhouse Juniper Room, 5195 SW Clubhouse Drive, Terrebonne. RPA students receive awards at Scholastic Arts and Writing competition: Twelve Redmond Proficiency Academy students received awards at the Scholastic Art and Writing competition for middle and high school students in Central Oregon. Ybella Gutierrez and Kaylie Kliewer received silver keys in drawing and painting, and Gabby Jimenez earned an honorable mention. Michaela Alexander received two gold keys in painting and two silver keys in digital art. Jessica Alonso received a gold key in painting, Chloe Leis received a gold key, two silver keys and four honorable mentions in photography. Lily Yeatman received a gold key, two silver keys and an honorable mention for sculpture. Natalia Ruiz received two silver keys in painting. Nova Papasodora received a silver key in mixed media. Aubrey Luse and Dorlma Wang both earned an honorable mention for drawing and illustration.
