Free Transit Tuesday: Cascades East Transit is offering free bus service Oct. 15 to encourage people to ride the bus, according to a press release. Bus service is available from the Redmond Transit Hub, 777 SW Kalama Ave., to Bend. There will be CET representatives at the Redmond Transit Hub 2-4 p.m. Oct. 15 to help riders plan transit trips and sign up for the Get There Challenge. Light snacks will be provided. StepUp receives $40k donation: Redmond School District’s StepUp Program recently received a $40,000 donation from City Center Church to fund a school playground at Edwin Brown Education Center, which does not currently have a playground. The school district plans to complete the playground by summer 2020, according to a press release. StepUp serves students from kindergarten through 21 years old. “Last year when our community partner, City Center Church asked what we really needed, we never thought that we would be able to receive such a generous gift to make that dream a reality so quickly,” said Karen Mitchell, StepUp Principal, in a press release. “We couldn’t do what we are doing without amazing community partners like City Center Church.” For more information about StepUp, contact Kelly Jenkins at 541-923-8233.

EV Station at COCC Redmond Campus: COCC has installed two electric vehicle charging stations in the Redmond campus parking lot and is holding a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at 2030 SE College Loop. FACT Oregon offers disability education event in Redmond: FACT Oregon, which serves families with disabilities, is hosting a “Regional Learning Summit,” 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 19 at the COCC Redmond Technology Center Building, 2324 SE College Loop. The event includes training on school issues and community resources for families and is free for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities and lunch is provided. The cost for CEU credit is $50 educators and professionals. Spanish interpretation is available at the event and other language translation may be available if requested by Oct. 16.
