A Redmond woman was killed Tuesday morning in a two vehicle crash south of Redmond, according to an Oregon State Police news release.

Linda Dent, 76, of Redmond, was driving a 2017 Subaru Legacy south, around 11:45 a.m., when she crossed into the northbound slow lane for unknown reasons, police said. Dent went into the path of a state Department of Transportation incident response pickup, driven by John Benson, 38, of Redmond, police said.

Dent was pronounced dead at the scene, while Benson, whose pickup was a 2018 Ram 3500, was taken to St. Charles Bend with minor injuries, police said.

Along with the transportation department, state police were assisted by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Bend Fire. Lanes on the highway were closed for several hours during the investigation.
