On Tuesday, Tumalo Road closed east of Old Bend-Redmond Highway to begin the final stages of the Old Bend-Redmond Highway / Tumalo Road Intersection Improvement project.
Detour routes will be provided via Hunnel Road, Pohaku Road and Sturgeon Road.
Trucks over 40 feet in length are strongly advised not to use these detour routes and should avoid the project area by utilizing alternative routes during the project. Road users traveling on Old Bend-Redmond Highway and west Tumalo Road will be traveling through the new roundabout. The project area will be controlled by flaggers, 24 hours per day until Friday, Oct. 15 and will be opened to two-way traffic beginning Saturday, Oct. 16.
The project includes constructing a roundabout, installing intersection illumination and other safety improvements. The $1.15 million project is being constructed by the County’s contractor, Knife River Corporation– Northwest. The project is anticipated to be completed by Veteran’s Day.
Road users should use caution and anticipate single lane closures and delays in the project area during project construction.
