The younger sister of a state champion wrestler is looking to be a star in the sport in her own right.

Peyton Dennis took home the girls 160-pound championship last weekend at the Middle School State Wrestling Championships in Woodburn, defeating Anna McDougal of Fern Ridge by fall in the final. The Obsidian wrestler is the younger sister of Ridgeview sophomore Bailey Dennis, who recently won her second girls state high school title.

Peyton’s twin sister and Obsidian teammate, Ashlyn Dennis, earned third place in the 220-pound weight class.

In boys competition, John Downing of Elton Gregory finished in third place at 117, Logan Willett (150) of Elton Gregory finished fourth and Obsidian’s Joseph Martin (195) finished fifth.
