Three Redmond teams won championships last week at Oregon District 5 Little League All-Stars tournaments, said Evan Dickens, Redmond Little League treasurer.

The majors baseball team, for ages 11-12, won the title July 6 in The Dalles, defeating Bend North 6-4 to cap off the successful stretch. The team, coached by Brian Cooley, will move on to the state tournament starting July 21 in Salem.

The majors softball team, coached by Stephanie Derschon, started play July 7 at the state tournament in Baker City after going 3-0 at the district tournament. Redmond defeated Bend South 14-2 in the district championship. They started the state tournament 1-2 in pool play going into action July 9.

The ages 9-10 minors softball team also went 3-0 in the district tournament, advancing to state with a 9-3 victory against Crook County. The team, under coach Brandi Morris, is set to play at state starting July 19 in Medford.
