In brief

Former Redmond runners compete at conference tournament: Siblings MaKenna and Treyson Conley had similar finishes for Northwest Nazarene at the Nov. 3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. MaKenna, a senior, finished 55th of 87 runners on the six-kilometer course in the womens competition with a time of 24 minutes, 21.9 seconds, 2:56.9 behind first place Emmanuela Chelimo of Alaska Anchorage. Conley’s time was fifth of eight runners for the Nampa, Idaho, school. Conley helped the Nighthawks to a sixth-place finish of 11 competing teams. Freshman Treyson Conley finished 58th of 95 runners on the eight-kilometer mens’ course with a time of 26:52.1, 2:14 behind first-place Wesley Kirui of Anchorage. Treyson’s time was fifth best of nine Northwest Nazarene runners, helping the Nighthawks to a sixth-place finish. Anchorage won both the mens and womens events. The Conleys ran at Redmond High for their parents, Panthers cross country and track coaches Melissa and Time Conley.
