Female athlete of the week

Alaina Clark, Ridgeview basketball — Clark’s putback with 1:40 to go gave Ridgeview the lead for good in a Dec. 27 victory against Madras in the Oregon Holiday Hoopfest in Bend.

Game of the week

Boys basketball, Redmond 42, Tillamook 27 — The victory was the first for the Redmond boys in this year’s tournament in Astoria and the only one for either boys team from Redmond in holiday tournaments.

What to watch for

Girls basketball — Ridgeview plays host to No. 1 Wilsonville Thursday, while Class 6A Bend visits Redmond Friday, as teams get their final pre-league challenges.

Ridgeview, with 121 points, finished third of 14 teams at the Carey Larson Memorial in Sandy, which Sandy won with 149 points. Daniel Jaramillo finished first at 152 pounds for Ridgeview, while Cole Jackson was first at 195 pounds.

Redmond finished seventh of 16 teams in the NW Duals in Albany, defeating Century 47-21 in the seventh-place match. Kagen Lawrence went 9-0 at 113 pounds, while Logan Hill went 7-2 at 106 pounds for Redmond.
