The Redmond High girls basketball team got a leg up on Ridgeview in Intermountain Conference play.

Before a packed home gym, the Panthers (1-0 IMC, 7-6 overall) defeated the Ravens (0-1, 5-9) 53-38 Jan. 11. Ava Kitchin led Redmond with 20 points, while fellow senior Jordan Fox had 15 and McKaylie Capps had 12.

After a 9-9 first quarter, Redmond began pulling away in the second quarter and was able to win despite shooting 9 of 23 from the free throw line.

Ashley Hall and Rylee Troutman scored 10 points piece for Ridgeview, while Alaina Clark added 8.

The Panthers play at Corvallis Tuesday before returning to IMC play Friday at home against The Dalles (1-0, 7-5), the only other IMC team with a winning overall record.

The Ravens had to play again the day after the Redmond game, falling at Baker 74-43 Jan. 12 in a non-league game. They are scheduled to resume IMC play Friday at Hood River Valley (0-1, 2-12).
