Cole Jackson, Ridgeview wrestling — While Redmond had the most wrestlers on the podium, Jackson had the best individual finish, reaching the 182-pound championship.

Female athlete of the week

Ava Kitchin, Redmond basketball — The senior nearly had a triple-double in Redmond’s 55-45 Feb. 23 league semifinal victory against The Dalles, finishing with 14 points, 18 rebounds and eight steals, according to a video on the team’s Maxpreps page.

Game of the week

Girls basketball; Redmond 55, The Dalles 45 — The victory clinched a spot in the Intermountain Conference championship game and means the Panthers will continue either into the playoffs or, at least, a play-in game.

What to watch for

Spring sports — Baseball, softball, track, golf and tennis are scheduled to start practice this week, though inclement weather makes it look like they will be competing for indoor space.

With 103.5 points, Redmond finished seventh, while Ridgeview, with 30 points, tied for 15th at the Class 5A Wrestling State Championships in Portland. A total of 30 teams scored at the event, which Crescent Valley, with 187.5 points, won by 1.5 points over Crook County.
