A first-place performance by the Ridgeview girls swim team heads an impressive showing by Redmond sports teams in Class 5A Academic All-State winter rankings.

The Ravens, with a 3.87 team grade-point average, edged out Intermountain Conference rival Pendleton, which had a 3.78 GPA, according to the Oregon School Activities Association website. Ridgeview was just behind Class 6A West Linn’s 3.88 for the highest girls swimming GPA in any qualification.

Ridgeview, which was in the top 10 of each of the five winter sports broken down by classification, finished sixth in boys swimming, with a 3.66 GPA.

Redmond’s top academic team came in boys basketball, where the Panthers finished second in Class 5A with a 3.66 GPA, just behind first-place Wilsonville’s 3.74. Ridgeview finished sixth in boys basketball, with a 3.42 GPA.

The Ravens also represented in girls basketball, finishing tied for sixth with a 3.74 GPA.

Both schools finished in the top 10 in wrestling. Redmond tied for fourth with a 3.3 GPA, to go with the Panthers’ seventh-place finish at the 5A state championships. Ridgeview finished with a 3.25 GPA in wrestling, putting the Ravens eighth.
