Three Redmond teams topped Class 5A academically in their sports this spring.
Along with the Redmond High boys tennis team, which also topped the state on the court, Ridgeview’s baseball team and Redmond’s girls track team led 5A academically. And several other teams were in the top 10.
The Redmond boys tennis team finished with a 3.82 grade-point average, while girls track has a 3.83 GPA. Though things didn’t go their way on the field, the Ridgeview baseball team led 5A with a 3.68 GPA.
Just missing the top spot was the Ravens girls tennis team, which came in third with a 3.81 GPA, behind only Wilsonville and Pendleton, which tied for first with 3.86. Ridgeview wasn’t far behind in boys tennis, finishing fifth with a 3.64 GPA.
Also finishing in the top 10 academically for Ridgeview were sixth-place girls golf (3.63 GPA) and eighth-place softball (3.6). In all, 20 Ridgeview teams had GPAs over 3.0 this school year, with 14 of them making the top 10.
For Redmond, the baseball team finished fifth academically (3.44) and the Panthers girls golf team was seventh (3.6). A total of 18 Redmond High teams had GPAs above 3.0 and 10 of those made the top 10.
