Monday in the park: For third-fifth graders. Each Monday for 10 weeks (excluding July 1), RAPRD will have games and arts and crafts at the Sam Johnson Park pavilion, before moving to the Cascade Swim Center for recreation swim. Students should bring a water bottle, swimsuit and optional sack lunch (Sam Johnson is a free lunch site). The day starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 3 p.m., starting June 17. RiverQuest: For third-fifth graders. The free class features guest speakers and exploring areas of the Deschutes River to see how it works and impacts lives. The first session on Tetherow Crossing is from 1-4 p.m. June 19, with students being dropped off and picked up at RAPRD Activity Center. Preregistration is required. Youth tennis clinic: For ages 4-18. State title-winning Redmond High tennis coach Nathan Saito, who has more than 20 years experience, teaches the program, which is designed for beginners to seasoned veterans. Bring your own boat kayaking: For all ages. Kayaking enthusiasts can practice in the Cascade Swim Center Pool from 5-7:30 p.m. Sunday for a $5 drop-in fee.
Tropical Pool Party: Cascade Swim Center will celebrate its summer opening with a Tropical Pool Party from 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday. The indoor pool, diving boards, outdoor wading pool and spray park will be open, and games and other festivities will be available. Food will be sold, with proceeds going to the swim lessons scholarship fund.
