Beginning Kendo: For ages 12 and up. Beginning Japanese fencing, or Kendo, is taught by Ryan Atagi, a fifth degree black belt in the sport. Classes are from 6-8 p.m. Thursdays from Aug. 8-29 at the RAPRD Activity Center. The cost is $50, which includes a bamboo sword. Call 541-548-7275 or visit raprd.org for more information.

Diane’s Horseback Riding: For ages 7 to 18, Diane’s Riding Place is playing host to beginning and intermediate horseback riding classes. The introductory class teaches the basics on how to properly care for and ride a horse. The intermediate class teaches more advanced maneuvers and how to better communicate with the horse. Horses and tack are provided. Beginning classes are from 2 to 3 p.m., while intermediate classes are 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays from Aug. 10-31. The cost is $100. Swim lessons: Cascade Swim Center is offering a variety of swim lessons for ages 6 months to adults, as well as all-ages adaptive swim lessons. Classes are Mondays-Fridays from Aug. 12-23. Call 541-548-7275 or visit raprd.org for more information.
