Redmond, with 344 points, defeated runner-up Pendleton by 108 points to win the Jay Rowan Invitational at Cascade Swim Center. Ridgeview, with 121 points, finished sixth in the seven-team event.

Girls swimming

Ridgeview, with 151 points, finished fourth in the seven-team Jay Rowan Invitational at Cascade Swim Center. Redmond, with 78 points, finished sixth. Bend won with 302 points.

Sports in brief

Globetrotters return to Redmond — The famed Harlem Globetrotters will bring their showtime basketball to Ridgeview High at 3 p.m. Feb. 9. According to a news release, the Globetrotters, in their 94th consecutive year, will attempt a world record at every stop of their 280-game tour. They will also have the 30-foot four-point shot. The Globetrotters last played in Redmond in December 2018 at the Deschutes County fairgrounds. Tickets are available at harlemglobetrotters.com.

Beginning coed gymnastics — For ages 6-12. The class introduces kids to gymnastic positions, rolls, body control, balance & strength, using bars, beams, trampoline and apparatus. Classes are from 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays Jan. 8-Feb. 28 at Redmond Gymnastics Academy. The cost is $190 for classes two days a week or $145 for once a week.
