Sports in brief

Nature presentation: Jerry Freilich, an aquatic ecologist and chief of research at Olympic National Park from 2002-15, will have a talk that is “a plea for nature and how concerned citizens can enlighten themselves and spread the word to others,” according to a news release. The talk is scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Juniper Room, 5195 SW Club House Road in Crooked River Ranch. The Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon Area discussion is free for members and costs $3 for non-members. Visit to register.

No school recreation swim: For all ages. A noon to 2 p.m. swim at Cascade Swim Center for children out of school Monday. A drop-in fee applies.
